Indoor Plant Display Ideas: Bringing Your Plants Inside for Autumn

The day your plants come indoors, the question is not where they fit but how they look. Indoor plant display comes down to three rules: lift the plant off the floor, keep heavy pots mobile, and tie different heights together with one material. Below is how to apply each rule with Cohoo’s four new stainless steel pieces.
Before you bring plants inside
When nights cool down, plants from the balcony or garden move indoors. For most tropical houseplants, bring them in before night temperatures fall below about 10 °C (50 °F). Before you carry them in:
- Check the undersides of the leaves and the soil surface for pests.
- Make sure the drainage hole of the pot is open.
- Indoor light is much weaker than outdoor light, so place plants near your brightest window.
- Keep them away from radiators and heaters.
Once they are inside, it becomes a question of arrangement. Here are four ideas.
1. Lift the plant off the floor: a plant stand
A pot on the floor disappears into the lowest line of the room. A plant stand brings the plant closer to eye level, gives the leaves room to spill over and sets the plant on a small stage. Trailing plants look best when raised.
The Nuuo Plant Stand is made of two bent stainless steel plates. The pot opening is 25 cm (about 10 in) in diameter and the stand measures 40 x 42.5 x 45 cm (about 16 x 17 x 18 in), so choose a pot that fits the opening. It works in a corner, by a window or next to a desk. It comes in satin and polished stainless steel, plus yellow, red, blue and black powder-coated colours.

2. Keep heavy plants mobile: a plant caddy
Light drops in winter and a plant has to follow the sun. A large pot is hard to lift every time, so put a rolling plant caddy under it. The same push also helps on cleaning day or when you rearrange the room.

Cohoo has two options:
| Cult | Cult Caddy | |
| Build | 30 cm stainless steel platform | Stainless steel body that wraps the pot, genuine leather handle |
| Load capacity | 55 kg (121 lb) | 35 cm: 65 kg, 40 cm: 90 kg, 45 cm: 110 kg |
| Wheels | 4 wheels (no brakes) | 4 or 5 wheels, 2 of them locking |
| Options | Satin, polished, yellow, red, blue, black | 35, 40 and 45 cm sizes, satin |
Cult sits low and stays simple; it does not compete with the pot, it carries it. Cult Caddy is for large, heavy plants: pull it by the leather handle like a suitcase and lock the wheels to hold the plant where you want it.

3. Give the plant a shelf in a side table
Not every plant has to stand on the floor. The Nuuo Side Table has a round top and an open inner shelf between its two plates. The top holds a cup, a book or a small lamp; the shelf holds a pot or an object you love. Next to a sofa, beside a bed or in an entryway it is furniture that is used and displayed at once. It measures 40 x 42.5 x 45 cm.

4. Three heights, one material
Messy plant corners usually come from mixed heights and mixed materials. This arrangement works:
- Build three levels. A caddy on the floor, a stand at mid height, a side table or shelf at eye level.
- Pick one material. When everything is satin stainless steel, different plants and pots can sit side by side and the corner stays calm.
- Put the accent in one place. One yellow, red or blue powder-coated piece becomes the focus; the rest stays quiet.
- Group in threes or fives. Odd numbers look more balanced to the eye.
- Let the leaves breathe. Leave space between plants so leaves do not press against each other.
Wiping up spilled water after watering keeps the surface clean; our stainless steel furniture care guide covers the details.
Frequently asked questions
What is a plant stand for?
It lifts the plant off the floor, brings it closer to light and eye level, and lets the leaves show.
What is the difference between a plant caddy and a plant stand?
A rolling plant caddy moves with the pot and makes heavy plants easy to shift. A plant stand raises the plant and displays it in one fixed spot.
Can a rolling plant caddy carry a heavy plant?
Cult carries up to 55 kg. Cult Caddy carries 65 kg at 35 cm, 90 kg at 40 cm and 110 kg at 45 cm.
When should plants come indoors in autumn?
For most tropical houseplants, before night temperatures drop below about 10 °C (50 °F). Check the limit for your own species too.
Do the painted models scratch?
Painted models are coated with electrostatic powder coating baked onto the surface, which resists scratches and moisture.
